Funky's Catering

Having good food was very important to us and we made a great choice by using Funky's. We had tastings with two caterers and the food at Funky's far surpassed our expectations. Their menu choices are very different from traditional wedding fare (which is a good thing) and they are truly full-service caterers. They were more expensive than the other caterer that we considered but they were worth every penny. If budget is a concern, just let them know and they will work with you to tweak things to make their services more affordable. After the initial planning stages with Jerin and Sharon, they assigned Katy as our event captain. She came highly recommended by our Reception Coordinator and definitely lived up to the expectations that were set. She is extremely knowledgeable and organized, which really helped in the final reception planning stages. She always answered my phone calls (even when I called at odd times) and was very accommodating to all of our needs. At the reception, she made sure that we had everything we needed and was always two steps ahead of me. For example, during the reception I realized that I forgot to purchase champagne for the head table. When I mentioned it to Katy, she told me that she not to worry because she brought some just in case! Similar to Katy, every server and bartender at our reception exuded professionalism. They blow away the competition! Everything was simply delicious and their attention to detail shows not only in their food but in their quality of service. Our friends and family are still talking about how wonderful the food was. Great food, great service, great value!

Funky's had, by far, the best food we tried at several tastings for our wedding reception. Jerin was helpful and professional in planning out exactly what we wanted. The day of the wedding, we had absolutely nothing to worry about - Seth, our captain, had been in contact with me several times the week before the wedding to finalize details and make excellent recommendations. The food was amazing and the service was flawless. Seth and the staff at Funky's went out of their way to make our reception perfect. Anytime we needed something during the reception, they were right there to assist. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caterer!

AWESOMENESS: Everything turned out amazingly delicious and everyone seemed to love it. I got TONS of compliments on the food. Our buffet food was very versatile and from what I actually tasted, Funky's really excelled in almost all of it. Food was perhaps my top priority for the event, so I was a very picky bride in this regard. Funky's was flexible and obliging. The tasting was very helpful for narrowing down the menu, and they responded accurately to most of the requests we made (i.e., the dish we asked for to have more heat actually did on the day of the event.) They were extremely good about getting me updated menus and quotes, both after the tasting and throughout the next several months as our numbers changed. There was one passed app that I didn't ever see, but then again, as the bride, you aren't ever going to see everything that's there - I didn't see at least 10% of our guests! Everything was good, but the appetizers rocked. We had a sun-dried tomato tartlettes, butternut squash soup shooters, italian sausage stuffed mushrooms and polenta squares. The Indian buffet with palak paneer, channa palak and murgh makhani was a HUGE hit. They also served Graeter's for us, woo hoo! Suzy was our captain day-of and so very sweet and thoughtful. She responded thoroughly to all my last-minute questions and checked in with me several times during the event. MINOR issues: We had three buffet stations, and two had a certain type of rice. When we went through (first), those two stations both had cilantro rice when one was supposed to have white. Easily and quickly remedied as soon as they noticed. We didn't have any champagne in time for the toasts. They cooled it and it was made available later, though I must say that by then, I wasn't interested. We had pork green curry at our Thai station, but it had a much greater Chinese flair than Thai flair. Just meh. I don't think there was a drop of coconut milk, either. (The shrimp pad thai was made with chow mein noodles but was still very delicious!) During the planning process, I didn't always hear back from them in a timely manner (though I think I was probably a very needy bride). I think they must cater tons of events and get pretty busy, so they have much to attend to. However, we did have one pretty major communication snafu, which involved the issue of who was actually providing our alcohol for the event. I was under the impression that it would be Funky's until the very last minute, when they called to tell me that in fact they did not get the necessary license from the other vendor who holds it. Long story, and I think the fault lies with several folks, but I do think Funky's could have been more proactive so that we could have dealt with sooner than the weekend prior to my wedding! Turned out fine. Despite any minor issues, I would still very highly recommend and would get them again if I had my choice!

Best food I've ever had at an event. And I'd like to consider myself somewhat of a food snob. The tasting was great, and the food is still getting compliments 6 months later. How many people really compliment someone's wedding food? Not to mention the service was OUTSTANDING. From beginning to end, they responded quickly to phone calls and emails. they even acted as a wonderful diplomat/go-between between myself and the venue, especially when the venue wasn't cooperating. Great food, wonderful service, amazing event!

We loved Funky's! They were so easy to work with throughout the entire planning process and the final product was delicious. We received lots of compliments! I would definitely recommend a tasting because the co-owners use that opportunity to really share their approach to catering and it was clear we wanted to go with them right from the start.

Funkys was AMAZING! We got so many compliments on the food (from people who know GOOD food!) we were really blown away fromm the beginning. They were so on task and handled every detail flawlessly! The food was great and the service they provided was exceptional!!

I used Funky's Catering for our rehearsal dinner, and it was amazing! In the beginning, it was a struggle trying to get ahold of someone to actually place an order with, but after multiple attempts, we were able to get in contact with the owner. He was extremely helpful and offered suggestions on what was most popular and what would do well with travel (since our rehearsal was 1 hour away). Funky's may be a little pricey, but it is totally worth it. I would definitely recommend them to others and would use them again!

They catered our rehearsal dinner and were nothing short of fantastic. Very reasonable cost and willing to specialiaze some dishes for us.

I can not say enough great things about Funky's! They are not listed on a lot of wedding websites for catering, and this is a shame! We found them because they cater all the opera events at Cincinnati Music Hall. They are extremely familiar with Music Hall and have worked with them time and time again. The food was fantastic; everyone raved about it! Matthew (co-owner) and Jerin (captain for my event) were great. I had buckeye candies for my favors and were concerned that they would not be kept cool enough at Music Hall (the AC wasn't going to be turned on until after my set-up crew was gone), and the Funky's crew just told me "No Problem". Jerin called me several times to confirm and re-confirm details leading up the the wedding and was very easy to work with. They even prepared an appetizer from one of my fiance's recipes!

Very upscale and personalized food and service. Very impressed!
